YELLOWSTONE CHAPTER FOUR

MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS

Like a scene from another world the living sculptures of Minerva terrace loom high over the small town of Mammoth Hot Springs. Wooden boardwalks snake across this landscape of spectacular terraces composed of Travertine or calcium carbonate which are in continuous change as the hot water from the deep volcanic forces of Yellowstone rise up through limestone crevices creating weird, dramatic and yet beautiful natural sculptures.

PALETTE SPRING

CANARY SPRING

The magnitude, the uniqueness, and the beautiful surprises of Yellowstone National Park have etched memories in my mind that have left me with a renewed, profound awe of God who created the Heavens and the Earth and saw that it was good.
