WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND

It is a COOL thought that our whole country was blanketed with snow at Christmas.
A wonderful place to escape the busyness of life is to go for a walk in our neighbourhood forest park. AHH, the silence!

SNOW NOISE

In deafening silence
complex, crystalline snowflakes
free fall and tumble effortlessly
to the Earth's floor,
laying a pristine carpet
as they gracefully collide
conforming to the contour of the land.

Beneath the soles of fleece-lined boots
the silence is shattered with
groans and squeaks of distress
as stellar dendrite arms are crushed
and compacted,
stamped with the image of heavy treads.

This trio of trees hanging over the creek
has been a fun place for family photos.

This cross-shaped tree reminded me of the words of Psalm 51:7
" Wash me and I will be whiter than snow"
