EASTER BLESSINGS

Easter week and the weeks preceding are filled with symbolism and observance of sacraments of the Christian faith. In my church care group we studied and shared together in the Lord's supper and in foot washing which symbolizes humility in serving others. The following lyrics by Michael Card have become very meaningful to me in this Easter season.

"The Lord Jesus ... took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me." In the same way , after supper he took the cup. saying, "This is the new covenant in my blood; do this in remembrance of me." For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes." 1 Corinthians 11: 23 - 26

THE BASIN AND THE TOWEL
Michael Card

"In an upstairs room, a parable
is just about to come alive.
And while they bicker about who's best,
with a painful glance, He'll silently rise.

Their Saviour Servant must show them how
through the will of the water
and the tenderness of the towel.

And the call is to community,
The impoverished power that sets the soul free.
In humility, to take the vow,
that day after day we must take up the basin and the towel.

In any ordinary place,
on any ordinary day,
the parable can live again
when one will kneel and one will yield.

Our Saviour Servant must show us how
through the will of the water
and the tenderness of the towel.

And the space between ourselves sometimes
is more than the distance between the stars.
By the fragile bridge of the Servant's bow
we take up the basin and the towel.

And the call is to community,
The impoverished power that sets the soul free.
In humility, to take the vow,
that day after day we must take up the basin and the towel."

What fun to share my tradition of making Paska (Easter bread) with a friend.

Paska iced and decorated - delicious!

With great care I dyed some eggs with the grandchildren.

On the Easter egg hunt with an instruction map in hand.

What a delightful find!

Tulips - representing perfect love.

"This is how we know what love is;
Jesus Christ laid down his life for us"
1 John 3:16

Hallelujah, He is risen!
