TICKLED PINK

From where I stand in my kitchen nook, gazing past the burgundy Alstroemeria, through the window pane is a splash of pink Rhododendrons. It's not a very symmetrical plant but on close inspection each blossom is perfectly ruffled and I'll take all the colour I can get.

This afternoon we took a little road trip up into the hills near our old neighbourhood. In years past we have found beautiful pussy willows but today our search was almost futile. Maybe we were too late or worse yet, it was obvious that  the road allowance had been brutally butchered by a ravaging machine. Not willing to go home empty handed we kept searching and found a smattering of several varieties of willows in various degrees of maturity - just a few clippings to create a spring bouquet.
