DECK THE HALLS

There are no boughs of holly, but the maple tree, boxwood bushes, artificial trees and swags both inside and out at our house are twinkling and sparkling with festive decorations. There is a spirit of joy as neighbours chat on driveways, sharing their traditions and plans for celebrating the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. Tonight, together with some of our new neighbours we attended the annual Living Nativity at our church which in a fresh, new way told the Christmas story from a giant advent calendar. Advent, a time of anticipation, where doors popped open with nativity characters reminding us all of the perfect Christmas gift.  The church hall was decked with twinkling trees flocked with snow, framing still life mannequin scenes resembling vintage Christmas cards. There was a spirit of joy as the community shared in the festivities over a cup of hot apple cider and homemade cookies - yes, some of the 20, 000 cookies. Fa la la la la la.

Best of all are the smiles and laughter of
