THE KETTLE SINGS

"You don't need a camera all the time —
the soul, the heart, the eyes, and spirit
and all your other senses capture moments beautifully too."
~Terri Guillemets

Camping once again at one of my favourite places, the Kettle River, where over the years I have taken so many photographs, and yet my eyes were drawn to detail in the so familiar. Alone on a familiar trail, alone with my thoughts, my spirit at one with creation, my senses acutely sharp, my heart overflowed with praise.

KETTLE RIVER'S WINGED CONCERTO

Dawn awakens

an aviary without boundaries.

Chirps, trills, peeps, and calls of a myriad

feathered friends

in  antiphonal, surround sound,

punctuated occasionally with

a flicker’s staccato drumming

blend into nature’s symphonic wonder.

A hummingbird hovers an arms length away,

wings beating furiously as though the

concert master of the forest

to a backdrop of the river rushing

unconcerned along its course, the wind

whispering through the vanilla scented pines.

A hush falls

as daylight fades.
