KEEPING OUR GUESTS COOL

Us Okanagan-ites are  experiencing a heat wave and when guests arrived from milder climes we did our best to keep them cool and hydrated. Early in the day windows were closed up tight, the air conditioning turned on, picnics packed, and off to the lake to sit in the shade and dip into the refreshing water.

Canada Day was celebrated by attending our annual city Pops Concert in an air conditioned arena.

We have numerous wineries in our area to visit but the best one on a hot summer day was Arrowleaf Cellars where they provide a beautiful picnic area with an amazing view of Okanagan Lake. After taste testing we settled on their Bacchus white wine to compliment our finger food picnic.

Dinners at home were served in the garden as the sun was settling lower in the sky. Salads and fresh fruit hit the spot when it's hot. It's cherry and apricot time and "bottled grapes"are always in season.

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.
