MORNING LIGHT

Being an early morning person, I delight in seeing dawn creeping into a new day. As the sun rises over the hills illuminating the world, my heart is quickened with joy to once again have the opportunity to bask in the Creator's handiwork.
In the last few mornings I have had a wonderful old hymn singing in my mind and soul, filling me with praise as I enjoy the morning light from the breakfast table.

WHEN MORNING GILDS THE SKIES
Laudes Domini
Joseph Barnby
1868

When morning gilds the skies,
My heart awakening cries,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
Alike at work and prayer,
To Jesus I repair ( go to )
May Jesus Christ be praised!

Does sadness fill my mind?
A solace here I find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
... Ye nations of mankind
In this your oneness find,
May Jesus Christ be praised!
... Be this while life is mine,
My canticle divine,
May Jesus Christ be praised!

My view of this water colour canvas has lost it's golden blush of the birch trees in the background, so now the Maple tree is proudly highlighted by the morning rays.

Looking out at the morning shadows ...

being surrounded indoors with silhouetted shadows.

As sure as the darkness of night turns to the light of day, whether that light is bathed in sunlight or not, I am glad that I can declare the truth of Jesus words in John 8:12,
"I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life."
