EASTER REFLECTIONS

Easter weekend is coming to a close and for many people that is where the celebration stops. Churches have been filled with glorious praise, families have gathered around sumptuous feasts, chocolate eggs have ruled, new outfits have been modeled, and the easter bunny extolled. All of these are good and have helped everyone celebrate in their own understanding of this pivotal event in Christian history. For me the Bible is the authority for my convictions and confession of faith.
This makes Easter a celebration of joy and hope:

Christ died
Christ was buried
Christ rose again from the dead
Christ was seen alive.

"The Messiah died for our sins, exactly as Scripture tells it; that he was buried; that he was raised from death on the third day, again exactly as Scripture says; that he presented himself alive to Peter, then to his closest followers, and later to more than five hundred of his followers all at the same time, most of them still around (although a few have since died); that he then spent time with James and the rest of those he commissioned to represent him." From 1 Corinthians 15 - The Message

I have cherished this little watercolour titled 'DAFFODIL TIME' painted by my dear friend Ruth Wiebe. The cross in the center is a wonderful reminder to me of the joy of celebrating Easter -  resurrection Sunday all through the year.
