CHRISTMAS AT THE LODGE 2016

There is always something magical turning off the highway towards Gardom Lake Bible Camp in winter, where the snow closes in on the road, the forest becomes darker and silence is palpable.

Oh yes, the silence was soon broken as our clan spilled into the familiar lodge where a toasty fire in the big stove welcomed us. Families bounded up the stairs to claim bedrooms and room mates,(cousins that is)

And then two nights and a day of fun began. And what did we do?

We vegged and visited by the fireside

We snuggled and read books

Mark the marathon knitter fell ill the first night and missed lots of the fun.

Hard not to bring the video games

Table games

A puzzle that got finished thanks to Melody's mom Joan who is visiting from Winnipeg

Staying calm and colouring on!
Being creative

Keeping busy with new lego

WE ATE
Each family made a meal and of course snacks

 Delicious baked oatmeal for breakfast

 Hearty potato chowder for lunch

We had a lasagna dinner and finished off with Grasshopper pie

Delicious lemon ricotta pancakes for Sunday breakfast

WE EXCHANGED GIFTS
cousins with cousins
adults played a $10 gift game

SANTA CAME WITH TWO SACKS SLUNG OVER HIS SHOULDER

FAZL SOCKS for all

FAZL SOCKS
"Every time you purchase a pair of Fazl Socks you are helping to provide orphaned and destitute children in India with food, shelter, education, and clothing. What’s more, we give fair wages to the lovely ladies who knit our socks. We are committed to supporting children’s homes in India that care for vulnerable children and we dedicate 50% of our profits to this cause. Our company grew out of a deep love for these homes and the sacred work they do. We also provide dignified work opportunities to women in need. Bonus! These socks are fabulous! What’s not to love? So join the movement and Wear The Change You Want to See in The World."
from their website  www.fazlsocks.com
The company was created by a young couple from Kelowna who are serving full time at the children's homes.

This cause is dear to our hearts as Wally and I have been to both of the childrens' homes in Northern India and have travelled in the foothills of the Himalayas where the mountain women live, tend their flocks, pick apples in season and now knit, knit, knit to create these colourful, cozy socks.

WE PLAYED GROUP GAMES

'Minute to win it challenges'

We took an hour for 'Bums on Bunks'
a term the grandkids know from summer camp.

WE WERE CUTE

SOME PLAYED IN THE SNOW
Chilly at -15

What fun to walk out onto the frozen lake and for some to reminisce
time spent on the dock in summer.

WE TOOK A CLAN PHOTO
Unrehearsed and uncoordinated

WE SHARED THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS
