MOUNT REVELSTOKE NATIONAL PARK

MEADOWS IN THE SKY

Forest, flowers, fungi and a fire lookout,
Alpine meadows abloom in a riot of colour,
Grizzly Bear #46 down hill from our trails,
Lunches in a backpack guarded by bear spray.
Meandering trails winding uphill and down
telling tales of the first steps by the first Nations Peoples.
Mountain vistas viewed through a sextant
telling the story of our great Canadian explorer,
cartographer and surveyor David Thompson.
But my eyes fall again to the flowers in the meadows -
Mountain Lupines, Alpine Asters, Indian Paintbrush,
White Heather, Arnica, Anemone 'Towheads',
Pussy Toes and so many more that are spent.
and all too soon all will sleep under a blanket of snow.
