LOOKING FOR SIGNS OF SPRING

School spring break gave us a opportunity to have three granddaughters over for a full day.

Needing fresh air and sunshine we went to the lakeside to explore a marsh, looking for signs of spring.

Winter's drab pall still hung in the trees, a muddy pool and reeds, where nary a bird flitted or sang a song.

The shimmering lake brought our attention to a sandbar of white gulls, the ripples on the sandy floor and a rocky shore to comb for heart rocks.

The details in small things and the delight of sisters gave me joy.

The colors of the tulips are stunning and a sure sign that spring is here.
