The candle of JOY for this third week of Advent.
The Christmas story is filled with JOY ...
... when Elizabeth was greeted by Mary, her baby moved in her with JOY,
... Mary responded to Elizabeth, "How I REJOICE in God my Saviour!"
... the angel reassured frightened shepherds with," I bring you the most JOYFUL news ever announced, and it is for everyone!"
... when Joseph and Mary brought Jesus to the temple, Simeon said Jesus would be the greatest JOY of many.
... when the magi followed the star to Bethlehem, "their JOY knew no bounds."
JOY to the world the Lord is come
Let Earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare him room,
and Heaven and nature sing!
Here are a few of the things that have brought me JOY in this Advent season.
... reading my favourite Advent books
... a winter sunset
... singing Christmas carols with seniors in a rest home
... watching snow fall
... receiving Christmas wishes in the mail
... staying home for a whole day
... decorating the house
... enjoying the leisure of a second cup of coffee after breakfast
... listening to Christmas tunes all day
... candlelight
... welcoming our daughter and baby at the airport
... looking for recipes and making lists for family feasting
... spending time with grandkids - lots of hugs
... baking cookies
... and so much more JOY,
an emotion of great delight caused by something exceptionally good or satisfying
... and that it has been!
