ALL OF MAY

The spring months are ending today and already summer's heat wave is pushing in on us.  I was thinking of writing some poetic lines that encapsulate May when I came across this already written by Terri Guillemets, so why tax my brain today.

Spring is the green
      is the peace
      is the breeze
      and the blossoms
      and the blues
      past the buds
      to the pinks
      on the brink
      and the warmth
      and the warbles
      and the weeds
      all the yellows
      and the bees
      and the buzzing
      living branches
      and the grasses
      and the gardens
      and the growing
      and the blowing
      of the pollens
      oh! the purples
      and the chirples
      of the birds
      and the beauty
      and the butterflies
      in the skies
      and the sun—
Springtime's fun!
~Terri Guillemets, "Jovial vernal verse," 2016

MAY IN OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD FOREST

CHATTERBOX

To whom does the stream speak
with is burbling and rippling
day in and day out?
Is it babbling in delight to itself
as it rushes along, or
with reassurance to the egg in its bed
that will hatch and return as a fry to the sea?
Or could these murmuring, cheerful, chattering sounds
be a remarkable, yet ordinary song
meant just for me.

SPRING AT HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

SPRING  FUNDRAISER AT GARDOM LAKE BIBLE CAMP

Six members of my family ran or biked in the annual fundraiser that helps kids go the summer camp who could not afford it. A great day of cheering on our participants, enjoying the camp activities and to sit around dining tables feasting on delicious camp food.

A WEEK AT THE OKANAGAN GLEANERS IN OLIVER

Such a privilege to spend a week serving alongside other volunteers to prepare veggies for dried soup mix - over 5 million servings in a year from this little plant in Oliver. We tackled the ugliest, dirtiest and sometimes rotten giant parsnips  and huge sacks of beyond seed potatoes from Grandforks. We also enjoyed packaging apple chips, a yummy snack for hungry tummies.

THE END OF MAY IN MY LITTLE GARDEN

London Prides tiny flowers on long stems wave in the breeze.

Dianthus 'Pinks' have the aroma of cinnamon.

Getting my fingers in to rich loamy soil to plant hanging baskets, pots of sunny annuals and others for my shade garden was therapeutic and rewarding as already a few weeks later there are blossoms brightening my days.

Felicity

A new rose bush has already produced about a dozen vibrant blooms.

As we enter our summer months tomorrow and in the days and weeks to come this little garden will be a riot of beautiful blooms.
And now I say goodnight to May
