KALEIDOSCOPE

I remember as a child how I enjoyed looking through a kaleidoscope, twisting and turning the cardboard tube to see new combinations of coloured glass forming brilliant patterns. This is a little how I felt this past week as we visited the Tulip Festival on Seabird Island near Agassiz BC. It was a feast for my eyes and I couldn't seem to get enough as we wandered around the perimeter of this 40 acre farm. Each time I turned my head a new kaleidoscope of colour would tantalize my visual sense, and my nostrils detecting the delicate fragrance that filled the air.

Rainbow ribbons

A profusion of tulip blooms symbolizing "perfect love"

A bold statement in the shadow of a towering mountain.

A rosy blanket.

Violet "faithfulness"

A regal stem surrounded by ruffled sunshine.

Trying to blend in with orange blooms which
mean "enthusiasm, desire and passion"
(We were on our 39th wedding anniversary get-away)

Choreographed beauty.

Pinks standing for "affection and caring"

Rolling Royalty

Painter's brush strokes.

Varigated tulips mean ...
"you have beautiful eyes"

Dancing blooms over the rolling field.
Red tulips mean "believe me"

And just to surprise me -
a ribbon of blue, grape hyacinths
creating a dramatic border.

"Consider how the lilies (tulips) grow.
They do not labor or spin.
Yet I tell you,
not even Solomon in all his splendor
was dressed like one of these."
Luke 12:27
