CAMPING TRIP IN JUNE part 1

Off to familiar places for the first 6 days at several of our favourite Provincial Parks in BC. We chose the month of June this year as last years camping got smoked out!
First stop: Herald Provincial where we were fortunate to get our favourite site with this glorious view all day from our Komfort trailer and the shoreline of Shuswap Lake.

"The  ultimate camping trip was the Lewis and Clark expedition."

Our explorers paddled across the Salmon Arm of the Shuswap Lake from our campsite toward Canoe BC. led twice by Wally the patriarch on this Fathers Day weekend.
The discovery were a few remains of an old steam donkey used in logging.

Our four granddaughters waiting for the return of the explorers, or maybe waiting for the day to warm up to jump into the lake?

The days were filled with water fun, swimming, floating and kayaking. 7 year old Ella picked up the skill quickly but cautiously stayed close to shore. We all felt safe having 16 year old Mark with us as he recently passed his life guarding course.

Resting and napping on the beach,  someone looking rather uncomfortable to me.

Nature always beckons me to take one more photo to add to my collection of this park from bygone camping trips.

Thunder rumbles across the hills.
A full moon exposes white caps racing across the lake
Safety in our Komfort trailer
Far off echoes soothe me into slumber.

Eleven out of twenty family members is not a bad gathering for a camping weekend

A fun weekend over, we say our goodbyes and the two of us travelled south to Kettle River Provincial, again a park that we visit over and over again. An overnight stop with a walk over the trestle bridge, and as always, I am in love with the simplicity of grasses and trees.

A ribbon at a time"

A reminder of life's journey as we travel along to our next destination.

" Even though there are days I wish I could change
some things that happened in the past,
there's a reason the rear view mirror is
so small and the windshield is so big.
Where I'm heading is much more important
than what I've left behind."

A planned stop in Greenwood for coffee and the best sticky pecan cinnamon rolls with cream cheese frosting on the side. YUMMY!

And so the coffee revitalized us to safely arrive at Syringa Provincial Park near Castlegar BC.
Another repeat visit with the delight of getting our favourite campsite just a few steps down to Arrow Lake.

The sweet scent of mock orange flowers floated down the pathway

Lakefront barbecuing made breakfast sandwiches all the more delicious.

Relaxing under a beautiful sky, waiting for words to pen in my journal

A cerulean sky becomes a blank canvas,
a strong breeze the brush circling high and wide
forming fluffy cotton candy like mounds of vapour
weighted down with an impending rain storm
A sweep of the wind draws out wispy pathways
filling the expanse of my view.
A masterpiece hung in the heavens.

Beautiful photos of your camping spots and time with some of your family. Love your poem at the end.
