ADVENTURES IN JUNE AND JULY

My blog is my album of memories, and June and July did not disappoint with opportunities for camping adventures. It was so special to camp with friends and family, to share the beauty of nature and fresh air. To appreciate quality time outdoors after a long year of living like hermits.

KETTLE RIVER PROVINCIAL IN EARLY JUNE

The Kettle River runs on and on under the Kettle Valley Railroad trestle,
and the  trees along its banks appear to be  running as well.

Remembering the forest fire that raged into the park a few years ago and
absorbing the beauty of the forest that was saved by hardworking fire fighters.

Our good friends Ed and Sue walked and played games,
and laughed a lot with us.

Raising a toast to long marriages, friendship, and the love of nature.

MABEL LAKE PROVINCIAL PARK

Icy water did not keep the three sisters from having fun

Melody and Tucker  relaxing in the hammock

Lots of exciting table games

Kyla and Avery hanging out!

Siesta solace found in a tent

Ray, Melody and Mark prep their foil dinners.

Lauren, aged 7 entertained all of us with her directed drawing classes. What a hoot!

Evening fire circle with half of our family

HERALD PROVINCIAL PARK

Lavender bouquet, a gift from a neighbour as we were leaving home
 now graced the picnic table

Reinecker Creek trail to the waterfall was a cool reprieve from the blazing sun.

Towering pines along unique, steep rock walls

We are still in love after 50 years of marriage.

Margaret Falls

The old man hoping he can stand up again.

Content to be held up by a canyon wall

I had ownership of this wide diameter of Shuswap Lake
where I floated and dreamed.

Icy lime Margaritas on the beach with our friends Chuck and Phyllis,
complements of Chuck who kept them virgin. ( park rules)

Our 4 day view from our campsite with the train running 24 hours across the lake
We have grown to love the whistles over many years.

SUMMER SOLSTICE

Sweet dawn announced by chirping birds and chattering squirrels
the golden globe in the sky climbs early
into the cloudless, azure heavens
settling comfortably at its blazing zenith

the landscape of scented towering Pines
a shimmering lake mirroring the sky
rocky ledges fit for an anglers line
cool refreshing water for a dip on this scorching day

as evening falls we climb the bluff
to sit in silence along with others on uncomfortable boulders
watching the sun falling behind blue hills, like a hand blown glass ball
with fiery orange strokes radiating to blood red across the expanse of the sky

in the cool of the evening we recline in our chairs
the campers chattering muted, the cicadas humming
the moon appears like magic, big and bold
glowing serenely through the darkness and silhouetted trees

Behold! God's creativity painted in the sky
right on time for another annual summer solstice
a full day of fresh air and the bonus of a free art gallery.
my soul brimming with peace, gratitude and AWE.
