FINDING WINTER

"Have you ever travelled to where the snow is made,
seen the vault where hail is stockpiled ...
And who do you think is the mother of ice and frost?
You don't for a minute imagine
these miracles of weather just happen, do you?"
from Job 38 - The Message

What a delight to wake up to a prairie vista covered in hoar frost glistening in February sunshine.

A prairie town so small and quiet you can almost hear your heartbeat.

A cozy house silhouetted on a snow laden street.

Frosty lacework

PRAIRIE MINES

Diamonds grow on trees
Cautiously creeping outward
Delicately balanced on slender twigs
Sun catchers sparkling in a cerulean sky -
Crisply charged in winter's chill
Unmined prisms
Refracting white into rainbow brights
Shimmering mirrors
Cracked in a whispered breath
Diamonds may not last forever.

Trudy - 2010

The best part of finding winter was
a wonderful visit with our little prairie family.

A rosy cheeked snow angel.

Footprints in the diamond mine.

Ice crystals intricately designed by Almighty God
