Just to get on with our exploring we immediately turned off from the Trans Canada highway to explore a most unique coastline with little fishing villages like Isle aux Morts, Burnt Islands and Rose Blanche at the end of the road. The terrain here is unique to NL with heath covered rocks surrounded with icy fresh water ponds.
A short trail from Rose Blanche took us up to the lighthouse which was built in 1871, and after much damage from winter storms has been restored to it's original beauty.
From this lighthouse windowscape a reef is seen which would be disastrous to ships without the beacon sending it's warning.

Back on the main highway to Deer Lake where we were warmly welcomed by Margaret McDonald in her very pleasant B&B. We were spoiled with omelets and fresh scones for breakfasts. Life is good!

I've been catching up on your blog tonight - it looks like you are enjoying a wonderful holiday. Your photography is amazing. I can only imagine how much better it would be to be there in person. I'll check back more often to see what other adventures you are having! Enjoy!
