THANKSGIVING

Saying thanks is so easy, but living with an attitude of gratitude becomes a discipline to be desired and worth fostering. Being thankful for something each day, no matter how trivial it may seem, plants a seed of joy.
Every day of life is a day to give thanks.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

Thanksgiving is always a great time to appreciate and celebrate family. Our Okanagan Peters clan met at Bear Creek Provincial Park under a somewhat threatening sky for a good old fashioned wiener roast and a potluck of delicious sides and desserts. 20 children had the biggest lawns to run off their endless energy while the adults enjoyed conversation around a toasty warm fire.

Walking through the Farmers Market near the end of the season filled me with thanks for all the fresh, local produce we have enjoyed since April.

I am thankful for the joy I get creating good food. Instead of the traditional pumpkin pie I ventured out trying a new recipe of a Pecan Apple Cheesecake with a gingersnap crust and a warm apple pecan glaze which was shared with wonderful friends.

I love this fall mosaic of colour, as though the leaves were brushed with paints by passersby.

" Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them,
is the true measure of our Thanksgiving."
